Used for brewing
01 August 2016  |

I did not intend to put the thermometer to the use in which it was intended, instead I was going to use it in my brewing process. It wasn't until I received the instrument that I realised my mistake that the probe had a plastic cover which could leech unwanted particles into my beer.

So to use the device closer to what it was intended, you will understand I place my fermenting vessel inside another vessel, filled with water, ban-marie style, and control the temperature of the water with a fish tank heater.

Beer yeast is very fickle and to get the best out of it a constant temperature within the parameters for its style must be maintained. So according to my calculation this thermometer,s readings are absolutely spot on between 8 & 35' c which I guess is pretty much what the aquarium & brewing world want.

Downside it is monumentally slow to get to the correct temperature, however in the context of what I want it for, that is not an issue. Bit of a snip at 7.80 really.

Shipping was excellent.

Too early to give a reliable review as only a recent purchase. The products themselves look sturdy and up for the job. Ease of ordering and quickness of delivery was excellent.
